Lions Saving Kids Sight -- LIONS SAVING KIDS SIGHT FOUNDATION ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN. Introduction: In May of 2003, at the MD 22 Convention, delegates adopted a MD 22 Preschool Vision Screening Program. That program included the formation of the Lions Saving Kids Sight Foundation that would provide funding after the initial LCIF grant and matching MD 22 club donations were used. Since then, more than 28,300 preschool age children have been screened for Amblyopia or Strabismus and over 2,300 of them were referred for a professional follow-up eye exam. These funds have now been exhausted. The Board of Trustees of the MD 22 LSKS Foundation has adopted a funding plan recognizing that 1) there is a short term funding need to sustain the MD 22 PSVS Program; 2) it is necessary that the Foundation develop the means of providing a continuing source of operating funds and 3) the support of the MD 22 Lions membership is needed to insure that the current Preschool Vision Screening Program continues as a viable community based program. How Can You Help? Here are ways you and your club can contribute to the campaign: 1. Volunteer to be a Regional or Club Chairperson to coordinate fund-raising for Lions Saving Kids Sight Foundation. See the attached volunteer form. 2. Make a personal pledge to join the “1000 Club – Lions/Lionesses with Vision” by pledging to donate $1000 over the next 3 years. See the attached pledge form. 3. Join us on a nine-night cruise along the coast of New England and Maritime Canada, leaving from Baltimore on September 23, 2010. See the attached flyer. 4. Encourage your club to donate $24 per member per year for the next 3 years from your club treasury, from a new fundraiser or by adopting the “Loose Change Saves Kids Sight” program. Your Help is Needed! Remember – MD22 donated over $1.4 Million dollars to the Sight First campaign. We can certainly work just as hard for a local program to help children in our own District!
