West Arundel Lions Membership Plan for 2010-2011 (and beyond): 1.) Our goal: The West Arundel Lions have a membership goal of adding 2 new member each year. Our current club membership is at 16 - we would like to bring membership back up to at least 20 before our Club's 5th Anniversary of our Charter Night (1 June 2007). 2) Achievable by: A) We have created several fliers that are unique to our club, depending on the audience/event, it decides which one we use. These fliers contains the following: age of club, services we have performed through the years, services we would like to do, where we hold our meeting including the location, time, weekday and who to contact for more information, including our club's email address and websites addresses (including many Social Media sites). B) We have sponsored a Membership Drive Night this Fall already and will most likely have another come Spring. This event is free and opened to the public. For our first event, we had the District Governor show a Lions DVD, provided interested members with a blue folder that contained the following: The latest News & Views, our updated club flier, a Lions Membership application form, and several fliers about what Lions were all about and services offered. We also introduced them to all Club members present and greeted them with a special bead necklace. We provided the meal of their choice off the menu as well. At our next one, we will have either: photo boards of our lions in action; again have our members wear tags/shirts to distinguish they are from our club; a newer version of the fliers about our club; various forms of information about other Lions services available; show another DVD about Lions; and serve refreshments or provide dinner. C) At all West Arundel events or fundraisers our club are clearly identified by either: the wearing of Clubs' Lions Shirts (our embroidered polos or club t-shirt); Nametags; Lion Pins; and Banner identifying our club. We also have on-hand our club flier and various LCIF pamphlets. D) We have publicized our events by various methods including: Radio, TV, Newspaper, website, facebook, MySpace, Twitters, Fliers, word of mouth, phones calls, etc... Publicity has been given prior to event, then followed-up with a story and photos. We have ensured the District PR and Web Diva are given this information, as well as published in the District's News & Views. 3) Training Offered: A) The West Arundel Lions have ensured that all new members are given the proper Lions member orientation brief within one week of member's induction, many times given prior. A yearly orientation is offered to all club members. B) We have ensured that all incoming club officers attend one of the District's Officer Trainings offered each year and have achieved 100% compliance each year club has been charted. C) Our Membership chair will work with the District's Membership chair when we need ideas or help in obtaining members. D) West Arundel Lions will help send any person(s) wishing to attend the Leadership Training at either Camp Merrick or Emmitsburg (or both) as we know that several new skills/training have been provided to assist us in gaining and retaining new members. E) Our Club Officers have also attended District Cabinet meetings, Regional Advisory Meetings, USA-Canada Leadership Forums and the Multiple District Conventions with members returning back with information that is shared equally with all members of club. Respectfully submitted. YIL, Suzette Kettenhofen Vice-President/Membership Chair 2010-2011 West Arundel Lions
